Synopsis:

Although Linglan (Constance Song) and Wenhao (Terence Cao) is reunited with the family, Dashun (Chen Shucheng) is unable to bask in family bliss. Wenhao is unable to assimilate into the family as he feels that Dashun acknowledged him only because his mother has died. Lu Gua's (Chen Tianwen) greed and laziness irks Haitong (Felicia Chin) and both get into frequent confrontations because of Tao Garden .

When Wenzhu's condition improves after a period of rest, she decides to further her studies abroad. Wenhao takes the opportunity to announce that he has to go to Australia to settle his mother's estate. With his children leaving him one by one, Dashun feels a sense of loss especially when Zijin is still missing. Zijin was in coma for three months after her accident. When she regains consciousness, she realizes that she has been saved by Wang Zhongkun (Chew Chor Meng). Zijin is desolate, not knowing what the future holds for her and is reluctant to return home in an undignified state. Zhongkun, also a victim of gambling addiction, decides to help her re-establish her confidence. When Zijin and Kaiwang (Zheng Geping) meet again, he pleads for a reunion. Zijin does not want to live in an unsecure future; however, Kaiwang does not understand and coupled with Caixia's (Patricia Mok) instigation, misunderstands that Zijin and Zhongkun are on intimate terms. Their matrimonial harmony is at stake.

Without Daji (Zhang Yaodong) helping her, Haitong has to manage Tao Garden and E28 on her own. Her ex-boyfriend Zhipeng (Adam Chen) tries to rekindle their relationship and although Haitong makes it clear that she is not interested, Zhipeng joins E28 on the pretext that he is protecting Haitong from Lu Gua's bullying.When Daji returns, he is not pleased with Zhipeng's presence but respect Haitong's arrangement.

Wenhao returns from Australia feeling that his parents had not genuinely loved him. He suggests that Dashun mortgage his house to buy Tao Garden for him. Dashun is reluctant and Wenhao decides to leave home.
Pressured by Caixia's tight scrutiny, Qingxiong (Rayson Tan) invests his savings in a gem mine and is cheated. He runs off, abandoning his family and business. Kaiwang is implicated and the family's livelihood falls into difficulties.
Haitong and Daji eventually marry despite the tough test their relationship went through. Haitong realizes that she has a heart ailment when she is pregnant and faces the possibility of an abortion.

Kaiwang works hard to clear his financial problems hoping to attain Zijin's approval. Coincidentally, Zhongkun is diagnosed with a terminal illness and Zijin is at a loss on whether to return to Kaiwang or stay to look after Zhongkun.

It's now up to Dashun to keep his family together.

Introduction

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a 2008 comedy film by Walt Disney Pictures directed by Raja Gosnell and released October 3. A trailer of the upcoming Disney film Bolt was seen at the beginning. The plot centers around a Chihuahua who gets dognapped in Mexico and has to escape from an evil Doberman with help from a lonely German Shepherd and a hyperactive male Chihuahua who has a desperate crush on her.

Plot
Vivian (
Jamie Lee Curtis), chihuahua Chloe's (voice of Drew Barrymore) owner, leaves the pooch with her irresponsible niece Rachel (Piper Perabo) to dog-sit. Rachel decides to go to Mexico with her pals, leaving Chloe in the room; the dog sneaks out and gets stolen. Chloe ends up tossed into a dog fight ring, left to defend herself from dog El Diablo (voice of Edward James Olmos). Delgado (voice of Andy Garcia) rescues her from the fight, unleashing the other dogs from their cages and unlocking the ring to allow the two dogs to escape. Delgado was planning to just walk away, but he feels bad and decides to help Chloe get back home. The leader of the dog fights realizes that Chloe is worth something and sends Delgado to find Chloe. Rachel stays in Mexico to find Chloe, Rachel's friend sneaks into Vivians' house to get a picture of Chloe when she is caught by the landscaper, Sam (Manolo Cardona). He and his dog Papi (voice of George Lopez) from Beverly Hills, who is in love with Chloe go to Mexico to find her. Rachel and the landscaper team and set off to find Chloe. On their journey to Beverly Hills, Chloe and Delgado find themselves in many situations that they manage to escape; they make it to a national park in Mexico, where Chloe is regonized by an employee. Rachel and landscaper go to get Chloe but Delgago beats them to her. They end up in an old ruin where Chloe gets locked in a cage; Papi helps Chloe to escape. Chloe finds her bark and with the help of Papi and Delgado, and they get Diablo surender. Delgado becomes a K9 Unit and Rachel and Sam takes the dogs home. Back in Beverly Hills, Vivian likes Chloe's new smell (an earthy smell). Papi and Chloe relax on the patio. Chloe thanks Papi for his help and she tells him that she loves him in Spanish and she licks him down to the ground as her way of showing her love. Before the end credits, Papi explains what happens to the dogs (Chloe's friends that she met in Mexico), he and Chloe have puppies and Sam begins dating Rachel.

Lin Mei Jiao as Gui Hua
She is evil and easily jealous. Gui Hua hates Juxiang and treats her daughter Yue Niang as a maid. She often scolds and beats her.

Joanne Peh as Huang Yuzhu
A kind and gentle girl who is best friend to Yue Niang, Yuzhu also teaches Yue Niang to read and write. Although she also fancies Chen Xi, she knows that she has no place in his heart except for Yue Niang. Instead, she tries to matchmake them. She later goes into depression after having to marry a man she doesn’t like as she was raped by him…

Nat Ho as Li Xiuwen
Xiuwen is Anqi’s classmate and has a secret crush on her. He is a straightforward and witty young man who takes very good care of Anqi, and pursues her from Canada to Malacca.

Felicia Chin as Anqi
She is Yueniang’s granddaughter and a graduate from Canada. She escapes to Yueniang’s home in Malacca after some romantic setbacks and begins to learn from her grandmother many things that she has never heard of before. From there, she learns to face her problems and solve them.

Zzen as Robert Zhang
Charlie Zhang’s son studied in England and is a cunning one like his father. After marrying Yuzhu, he tortures her to death and believes it was a clean job. Unexpectedly, Yueniang searches for the cause of Yuzhu’s death and is adamant on bringing justice to Robert. Thus, Robert hates Yueniang vehemently and is bent on killing her.

Desmond Sim as Charlie Zhang
Though a descendent of an affluent Peranakan family, Charlie is Westernised and despises the Baba tradition. A shrewd businessman, he goes to unscrupulous means to get his way and has no qualms making use of women.

Pan Lingling as Xiufeng
Wife to Jincheng, Xiufeng listens to her mother-in-law’s every word. She will do whatever she can to marry her two daughters off to wealthy families, even if it’s at Yueniang’s expense. She suffers a terrible shock when she finds out that her husband is having a clandestine affair with her sister Xiujuan.

Huang Hui as Ah Tao
Ah Tao is the maid of the Huangs who often says the wrong things and becomes a laughing stock. She is very close to Juxiang and her daughter, Yue Niang. Later, while she is delivering Juxiang’s dowry, she is beaten up and becomes lame. A loyal maid, she follows Yue Niang all the way till she is 90 and still refuses to leave her.

Andie Chen as Huang Tian Bao
He is the eldest son of Huang Jin Cheng and Xiu Feng. He often has great ambitions but has little talent. He wants to control the entire business industry but has limited capability. Ultimately, he is only the helper of Robert Zhang.

Darren Lim as Huang Jin Cheng
He is the son of Huang Yuan and Gui Hua. His character is indifferent and afraid of trouble. Originally, he likes Xiu Juan but is arranged to marry her sister, Xiu Feng instead. Later in the show, he causes the Huangs to be bankrupt after he elopes with Xiu Juan who later came back from England.

Li Yin Zhu as Chen Lao Tai
Chen Lao Tai emphasizes a lot on tradition and makes the ultimate decision is the Chen family. Everyone obeys and respects her. She is especially worried about her eldest grandson marriage and allows him to choose his own wife who must be a Peranakan.

Xiang Yun as Tian Lan
The mother of Juxiang, she is a maid of the Huangs. She later marries Huang Yuan as a mistress. Giving birth to a deaf-mute Juxiang causes her to be looked down upon and is frequently discriminated. Although she is the second wife in the family, her status in the family is of no difference as the maid.

Pierre Png as Chen Sheng
The youngest uncle of Chen Yi, he is frivolous yet likes to uphold justice. Chen Sheng sees the need to preserve the Peranakan culture and likes Juxiang. However, he is forced to marry Mei Yu instead. As he has no feelings for Mei Yu, he spends his days away dancing and singing Malay poems outside after marriage.

Yao Wen Long as Liu Yi Dao
Liu Yi Dao is a butcher who cannot part with his knife. He is bald and likes to go around without a shirt. He is a man of a few words but is very loyal and keeps to his words. He is a filial child who lives with his mother and obeys whatever his mum says. His mum later likes Yue Niang and wants her to be her daughter-in-law. He tries to court Yue Niang to no avail. To prove his sincerity towards her, he even kills a tiger. Yue Niang refuses to budge and the two become sworn siblings instead. With the help of Yue Niang, Yi Dao later becomes a wealthy businessman.

Cynthia Koh as Xiu Juan
She is the younger sister of Xiu Feng (played by Pan Ling Ling) and fancies Jin Cheng (played by Darren Lim).

Apple Hong as Huang Meiyu
As the eldest daughter of the Huangs, she is also the wife of Chen Sheng (played by Pierre Png). Unfortunately, Chen Sheng does not exactly fancy her despite after marriage. Feeling a little depressed, she also plays a part in breaking Yue Niang and Chen Xi…

Eelyn Kok as Huang Zhenzhu
Zhenzhu is a selfish and pampered girl who resorts to dirty tricks on Yue Niang in order to marry Chen Xi. When she witnessed her sister Yuzhu was raped by Robert, she refuses to save her. She finally gets to marry Chen Xi, but is unable to secure a place in his heart…

Qi Yuwu as Chen Xi
Yuwu is the male lead in The Little Nyonya. Young and capable, his character Chen Xi manages his family business well. He has frequent clashes with his Peranakan culture as he was once lived in England, which gave him more freedom. Due to his family, he is unable to marry the woman of his dreams Yue Niang and decides to leave everything behind including his legitimate wife Huang Zhen Zhu (played by Eelyn Kok), family and his business.

Dai Yang Tian as Yamamoto Yousuke
Yamamoto Yousuke is a young Japanese photographer who opens a small photo studio in Singapore . He is kind-hearted and helpful. He falls in love with Juxiang after taking a shot of her unintentionally. Yousuke also helps Juxiang to break away from unscrupulous businessman Charlie Zhang. The two later get married and have a daughter, Yue Niang. While he returns to his hometown to visit his ailing father, he is forced to be a soldier. He then escapes from the war and returns to find Juxiang. Unfortunately, the Japanese make their way to conquer South East Asia . In order to protect both his wife and daughter, he is caught for escaping army and is killed by the Japanese.

Jeanette Aw as Huang Juxiang and Yue Niang
She has to portray two different characters in the drama – Huang Juxiang (Mother) and Yue Niang (Daughter). Huang Juxiang is not easy to play because she is deaf-mute though very pleasant looking. Huang Juxiang is also a virtuous woman who is excellent at cooking and sewing. Later in the show, she marries a Japanese photographer (played by Dai Yang Tian) and gives birth to Yue Niang (also played by Jeanette).
Yue Niang looks exactly like her mother and takes after her positive traits. Also a good cook, she stays at her grandmother's house (played by Xiang Yun) after the death of her mother. Her love interest is Chen Xi (played by Qi Yuwu) but was forced to marry Liu Yi Dao instead (played by Yao Wen Long). Unexpectedly, she becomes sworn siblings with Yi Dao and helped to save the family's declining business.

The story begins from the 1930s, spanning over 70 years till modern day.
Juxiang is born into a big Peranakan family where her mum is a mistress. She is gentle, beautiful and a fantastic cook. Born deaf-mute, she is ostracized by people. Right before the Japanese Occupation in Singapore, she is forced to marry a rich Peranakan as a mistress. Juxiang resists the marriage and runs away from home. She then meets a young Japanese photographerand after many obstacles, they finally get married and Juxiang gives birth to a daughter Yue Niang. During the World War, Juxiang is tortured and both her husband and her dies leaving behind their 8-year-old daughter.
Yue Niang is passed around families and eventually ends up at her grandfather's house. Under the supervision of her grandmother, Yue Niang learns to cook Peranakan dishes and sewing. She grows up looking exactly like her mother and is exceptionally beautiful. After the war, her maternal relatives who ran away to England to seek refuge during wartime return home. Yue Niang then leads the life of her mother – always discriminated, beaten up and tortured. She puts up with all these in order to protect her grandmother.
Yue Niang's pretty looks incurs jealousy from her cousin and attracted many rich Peranakans to chase after her. However, she only has eyes for penniless driver Chen Xi.
Chen Xi actually comes from an educated and wealthy family. He hides his identity to be with Yue Niang. Yue Niang's kindness, pureness and persistence move Chen Xi and he loves her deeply too. Unfortunately, their relationship is filled with many obstacles and difficulties. Under pressure from his family, Chen Xi is forced to marry Yue Niang's cousin instead. Yue Niang is then sold to a butcher, Liu Yi Dao.
Yue Niang is unwilling to accept the fact that her life is always manipulated by others and decides to end her own life. Yue Niang's strong personality impresses Liu Yi Dao and they become sworn siblings instead. Yue Niang decides to choose her own path in life. She begins learning how to run a business and in the process, she is framed and ousted from her business. Although she is badly hit, she manages to overcome the odds and save her declining family business. Sadly, her love life has yet to begin a new chapter with no news about her lover, Chen Xi.
